BC Shoes Fit Notes by Style: True to Size, Large or Wide
Do BC Shoes run true to size? Fit notes for Peace Train, Ambitious and Winnie, plus general advice for platforms, loafers, boots and sandals.
Quick answer: Most BC Shoes styles are true to size, so start with your usual size. Peace Train runs large, so size down. Ambitious is true to size but runs wide. Winnie is sold in whole sizes 6 to 11 only. Always read the fit line on the page for your exact style.
Fit notes for specific styles
These are the styles where the fit needs extra attention.
Peace Train Heel: runs large
The Peace Train is a high-heeled loafer with an exaggerated platform and a double buckle monk strap. It runs large, and we recommend sizing down. If you are between sizes, take the smaller one, and check the BC Shoes size chart for the foot length that matches.
Ambitious Loafer: true to size, runs wide
The Ambitious platform wedge loafer is true to size and runs wide. If you have narrower feet, expect a roomier fit across the foot. If you have wider feet, you may find it more comfortable than a style that does not run wide.
Winnie Sneaker: whole sizes only
Winnie is a low-profile, slim lace-up fashion sneaker. It is offered in whole sizes 6 to 11, even though our shared chart includes half sizes. If you are a half size, think about your socks and how snug you like laces. We designed Winnie as a casual fashion sneaker, not an athletic shoe.
Other styles
Many other styles, including Fiction, Fan Club, Smooth Landing and Koko, list their fit as true to size on the product page. That is a general description, not a guarantee for every foot.
General advice by shoe type
Platform mules and slip-ons
Slip-on mules and clogs do not have laces or straps to adjust, so they need to be the right length. Use your measured foot length and the chart. Open-back mules need a little room at the heel.
Loafers and Mary Janes
Styles with buckles or straps, such as Fan Club and Story Of My Life, give you some adjustment. Fiction and Ambitious are closed styles, so think about the width of your foot as well as its length.
Boots
Pull-on boots such as Koko have a shaft height and circumference that you can compare with your leg. Lace-up and buckle boots, such as Made For Greatness and Unmatched, adjust more easily. Plan for the socks you will wear in cold weather.
Sandals and heels
Thong styles and slides depend on how your foot sits on the footbed. Buckle straps, such as on Dollface or Rally, give you some range to tighten or loosen.
A simple process
- Measure your feet.
- Match the measurement to the size chart.
- Check the fit line for your specific style on its product page.
- Think about socks, and about whether you like a snug or roomy fit.
- Remember that heel and platform height change how a pair feels. See heel vs platform height.
One last note
We describe fit as clearly as we can, but feet differ. If a pair does not work for you, see returns and exchanges to learn how to handle it for the store where you bought.
